Finkenauer in New Ad: “Tariffs Should be Fair, But They Shouldn’t Make Things Harder”

Abby Finkenauer’s campaign today released a new television advertisement, entitled “Make a Living.” The ad can be viewed below and began airing Saturday, September 29, in the Cedar Rapids market.

The ad features Finkenauer’s sister and brother-in-law, who are corn and soybean farmers, and focuses on her commitment to protecting farmers from the instability caused by President Donald Trump’s twitter trade war.

“Tariffs should be fair, but they shouldn’t make things harder. Farms are paying the price and Rod Blum is letting it happen,” said Abby Finkenauer. “I’ll work with anyone if it helps Iowa, but I’ll have the backbone to stand up to anyone who hurts us.”

A full transcript of the ad is below:

My sister and brother-in-law are corn and soybean farmers. They just want an opportunity to sell their crops and make a living. Tariffs should be fair, but they shouldn’t make things harder. Farms are paying the price and Rod Blum is letting it happen. I’ll work with anyone if it helps Iowa, but I’ll have the backbone to stand up to anyone who hurts us.
