Dubuque, IA – Abby Finkenauer’s campaign today released the first television ad of the general election, titled “Dinner Table.” The ad can be viewed here and will begin airing Tuesday, August 14th in the Cedar Rapids market.
“I’m hearing from Iowans across this district every day who are tired of politicians in Washington who won’t put their partisan differences aside to get things done for working families,” said Abby Finkenauer. “This campaign isn’t about whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, it’s about standing up for who we are as Iowans. I’m excited to bring that message to voters over the final months of the campaign.”
As the general election ramps up, IA-01 is widely regarded as a key US House battleground and considered a ‘Toss-Up’ by multiple political observers. Excitement and momentum for the campaign continues to grow, with Finkenauer more than doubling Rod Blum’s fundraising total for the second quarter and outraising the incumbent four reporting periods in a row.
A transcript of the ad can be found below:
“Every Saturday night after church, we’d walk to my grandparents’ house for dinner. We’d talk politics, and let me tell you: we didn’t all agree. But nobody walked away angry, or not family anymore. That’s how it should be – at home, and in Congress. I’m Abby Finkenauer, and I’ll work with anyone who’s serious about creating good-paying jobs and lowering healthcare costs. I approve this message because for me, standing up for Iowans isn’t partisan. It’s personal.”
