After WH cancels CRS payments, Rod Blum and Congress must act to protect Iowans’ healthcare

Without action, health care premiums for 1st district residents could rise by over 20%

Dubuque, IA – Last night, the White House announced it was ending Cost Sharing Reduction (CRS) payments made to keep health care costs low, a decision that will throw health care markets into turmoil. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projects that this could raise premiums by over 20% and increase the deficit by $194 billion. Abby Finkenauer released the following statement:

“Yet again, all Eastern Iowans are getting from Washington is dysfunction and turmoil, yet we pay the price with our health and our wallets. Rod Blum must do his job and take action to fix this disastrous decision that will cause the health care premiums we pay to skyrocket. If he doesn’t, it will be yet more evidence that he couldn’t care less about the problems faced by working Iowans, many of which are now created by failed Washington policies.”
