Dubuque, IA – In advance of the July 15th FEC filing deadline, Abby Finkenauer for Congress releases the following fundraising numbers.

“I’m proud to announce that in just two months, our campaign has raised over $155,000 from over 550 individuals. I’m especially proud that the majority of our donors come from right here in Iowa”, Finkenauer said. “I’m grateful and humbled by this support which puts us on track to have the resources to compete with the GOP and their dark money allies. Rod Blum might be able to write himself a $500,000 check, but I have something better – hundreds of contributors and over 2,500 supporters who are willing to step up over and over again from now to the election. Working families like the one I grew up in are ready to be heard loud and clear with a seat at the table in Washington, D.C.”

In two months, Finkenauer was able to raise double what Rep. Rod Blum raised last quarter. Our fundraising success demonstrates that voters across the First District are responding to our campaign’s message.

Finkenauer was born and raised in rural Dubuque County, where her grandfather was a lieutenant with the Dubuque fire department, her father a union pipefitter welder and her mother an employee with the Dubuque Community Schools. Finkenauer is part of the first generation in her family to graduate from college, earning her degree from Drake University. She has worked for the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, where she helped invest in communities to help them grow, and was the state director for Make It Work, an organization dedicated to creating equal pay in the workplace. In 2014, she was elected to represent the city of Dubuque in the Iowa House, where she earned a reputation for standing up for working families and women. So far, Finkenauer has earned the endorsements of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Dubuque, the United Association of East Central Iowa Local 125, and EMILY’s List.
